i thought the same. untill i took a look at cali's emissions laws. ive got a 96, and sadly thats when they changed to obd2. even with every part out of an 88 turbo coupe, you still need to swap the ecm to control it. and you cant have obdI in a 96... gay.
I think you would use a 2.3 n/a computer and have it tuned to run with the snail.
dunno if it would pass cali smog or not, but it is possible to keep the factory PCM in an OBDII truck and have it tuned for boost.
still cant do it. cali smog laws require a engine verification before you can even get it smogged. and theyll see a turbo in my truck and know it wasnt OE equiptment, or the fact that you cannot swap car to truck/ truck to car engines. it has to be car to car truck to truck.

gumby, any idea how much boost you can run with a stock 2.5L?
I might just find the parts from a turbo coupe and figure out a way to wire in my instrument cluster to the obd1 system.
